Tuesday - Arrival in Tokyo

We took a few hours to straighten out our Tokyo rail passes as the airport, then began the journey on trains to the city. It was honestly a bit difficult to straighten out on site, but the JR Rail team eventually got us squared away. The rail pass is amazing ... unlimited Shinkansen bullet trains for our entire stay for city to city travel, and about half of all the regional rail and Tokyo subways were JR as well, all included.

We set up that night in Meguro, a residential neighborhood just outside of Shibuya, in the middle of the city. We would be there for three nights in two apartments. They were tight, but the bathrooms? Think of a ship bathroom, with the flooring becoming part of the shower.

Well known for its stunning cherry blossoms along the Meguro River, the relaxed residential atmosphere of Meguro City belies its wealth of public spaces, quality art galleries, quirky museums and historical temples. Featuring the stunningly historical Meguro Gajoen hotel complex alongside the contemporary landscape design of Meguro Sky Garden, the city is the perfect day out for sights and experiences.

We found a very practical local place for dinner.  We were all exhausted from the trip.
